Objectives

There are three primary goals that I focus on with clients, creating a trading plan, risk management and diversification of an overall portfolio.  I believe each of these categories has an important role to play in a client’s success.  I review a client’s current situation and experience level and develop a trading plan that will fit that criteria.  There are many different ways to approach the markets based on the evaluation, so each trader may have a different plan, but with similar goals.  I enjoy helping clients navigate the markets and supply them with trading tools, such as fundamental information and technical analysis.  One of the most important objectives is risk management.  I monitor the markets on a daily basis to help manage risk and maximize profit opportunities.  By participating in multiple markets and strategies, a client can diversify their overall portfolio and potentially lower volatility and enhance returns.  In many cases, managed products can be a way of diversifying a portfolio.

Backround

While attending college, I started my career in the commodities industry as runner in the agriculturals at the distinguished Chicago Board of Trade.  I returned the following summer and quickly rose in the ranks servicing some of the larger accounts and institutional business for the firm.  In 1994, I took my knowledge and experience from the trading floor and began working with my own clients as a full service broker. With over 18 years of experience, I provide my clients with timely information, execution, and technical tools to assist them in their individual goals.  I have been a recommended broker for a variety of newsletter writers including Doug Casey of “The Gold Newsletter” and Franklin Sanders of “The Money Changer”.  I attended classes by notable technical analysis guru Kenneth Shaleen founder and president of Chartwatch and author of “Volume and Open Interest” and “Technical Analysis & Options Strategies”

Market Focus

Interest Rate, Stock Index, Agriculture, Energy, Metal and Exotic.  On behalf of my clients, I follow all of the markets that fall with these groups; however, some markets may not be included because of liquidity and/or volatility issues.

Trading Strategies

The strategies are dictated by individual portfolios.  They may include trend following, short-term day trading , and option strategies such as market neutral and longer term trend following.  A variety of indicators will be used including fibonacci numbers which include both long-term and short-term resistance - support levels, MACD, and RSI.  Volume and volatility can also be a crucial part of the analysis on any given strategy.

Risk and Money Management View

It is always critical to have a defined risk parameters.  The discipline to follow the strategy as it has been constructed from beginning to end.  Often, traders who do not have a specific set of rules in place before they enter the trade can make “on the fly decisions”  which almost always result in a trader incurring more risk than they should or not maximizing the profits.  I have a strict plan that can be derived from either a mathematical calculation, technical analysis or both.

Technical and/or Fundamental Focus

While I use technical analysis for entry and exit points and adding to positions,  the main fundamentals of the market are extremely important for the long term trends. A variety of indicators are used for my technical analysis including fibonacci numbers which include both long-term and short-term resistance - support levels, MACD, and RSI.
